Wilder water in Belgium is only available in winter when the rain fills the river valleys. Fresh rain brings whitewater opportunities in the south of Belgium, but the environment becomes challenging. This course aims to prepare you for winter packrafting in Belgium and join the Benelux Packraft Meetup.
We focus during this course on different aspects of whitewater packrafting:
- Safety first: basic techniques for rescue and sels-rescue for packrafters
- Paddle technique: stay away from the rocks and trees
- What do you need for winter packrafting
- Trip planning in Belgium
- Gaining confidence and learning under supervision
LOCATION
Fagus Outdoor basecamp at camping Pont de Berguème. We will spend the whole day at the banks of the Ourthe Occidentale.
COST
50 EURO with your own packraft set, PFD, helmet
75 EURO with packraft set rental included
Rent extra material through Fagus Outdoor
- Drysuit (recommended) – 20 euro
- Helm – 5 euro
